National Colorectal Cancer Awareness

March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month

Colon cancer is the second most common cancer death in the United States. With early detection and removal of precancerous polyps by colonoscopy, colorectal cancer is preventable.  In recognition of National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, the Providence Health Talk program has invited Daryl M. McClendon, MD, to give a talk about the prevention and causes of colorectal cancer as well as who is at risk. He will discuss the current screening recommendations of the American Cancer Society with an emphasis on colonoscopy screenings.
